San Francisco election department updates on vote count progress

The San Francisco Department of Elections has released its ninth preliminary report for the November 5, 2024, Consolidated General Election. This latest update includes results from 17,333 vote-by-mail and provisional ballots processed since the previous day.

The ballots counted represent approximately 69,332 cards, as each voter received a four-card ballot. Since November 6, nearly 147,000 ballots have been processed by the department, totaling around 588,000 cards.

There are still approximately 24,700 ballots left to process. This figure comprises about 6,700 vote-by-mail ballots and roughly 18,000 provisional ballots cast at polling places and the City Hall Voting Center.

Ballot processing will continue until 10 p.m. on November 11 and resume on November 12 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The public can observe this process in person or via livestream at sfelections.org/observe.

The next update on preliminary results and remaining ballot estimates will be released on November 12 at 4 p.m., available at www.sfelections.gov/results. Director John Arntz will be available for questions from the public and media outside Room 48 in City Hall following each release.
