The Department of Elections in San Francisco has started mailing the Voter Information Pamphlet (VIP) for the upcoming November 5 election. The pamphlet will be sent to hundreds of thousands of local voters and is also available in various formats, including PDF, HTML, and MP3 through the Election Readiness Toolkit at sfelections.gov. Additionally, voters can request the VIP in large print, CD audio, USB, or National Library Service cartridge formats.

Director John Arntz emphasized the importance of using official election resources: “As the November 5 election approaches, the Department of Elections is committed to providing voters with the information they need to make informed decisions. We urge all voters to utilize official election resources to ensure that the information they receive is accurate and reliable. Engaging with materials from trusted sources, such as our Department’s Voter Information Pamphlet and the California Secretary of State’s Voter Information Guide, will help voters cast their votes with confidence.”

The VIP includes details about candidates and measures as well as comprehensive information on voting options, key election dates, accessible and multilingual resources, and instructions on marking a ranked-choice voting contest. It also outlines how votes are counted in such contests. A dedicated page on election results informs voters about the schedule and timelines for releasing preliminary and final results. Due to anticipated high voter turnout and a multi-card ballot, it may take up to 30 days to count all ballots and release final results. Each VIP also contains a sample ballot to help voters prepare.

Voters who prefer digital delivery for future elections can opt out of receiving a paper VIP by logging into the Voter Portal at sfelections.gov/voterportal.

The Department remains committed to supporting voters as they prepare for the November 5 election. San Franciscans are encouraged to contact the Department with any questions or concerns about the election process. Assistance is available through sfelections.gov or by calling (415) 554-4375.
