San Francisco, CA—City officials announced major updates to the SF311 mobile app today, making it available for the first time in Chinese, Spanish, and Filipino. The new multilingual functionality provides a pathway for speakers of these languages to quickly and easily request City services, such as street cleaning, graffiti removal, and sidewalk issues.
The SF311 app is now available for download on Android and iPhone in Chinese, Spanish, Filipino, and English. The app will detect the phone’s language automatically.
The updated app aims to make services more accessible for immigrants and San Franciscans with limited English skills. SF311 also provides live assistance over the phone in over 160 languages.
Last year, SF311 received over 800,000 service requests from the San Francisco community. Over half of those requests were submitted self-service online or via the 311 mobile app. The app enables users to request services on the go, upload photos to help City workers find and resolve issues, and track the status of requests.
