With the November 5 election approaching, the Department of Elections encourages voters to choose a convenient and environmentally friendly way to receive their Voter Information Pamphlet (VIP). Voters can opt for digital delivery instead of receiving a hard copy in the mail. To switch to this option for the November 5 election, requests must be made by Monday, September 16.

“We want to ensure that every voter knows their options for receiving election information,” said Director John Arntz. “Choosing the online VIP is not only convenient but also helps us reduce costs and conserve resources. If you live with other voters, you can opt out of receiving multiple copies and share a single digital version within your household.”

To opt for digital delivery and forgo a hard copy, voters can make their requests by emailing sfvote@sfgov.org, calling 415-554-4375, or visiting sfelections.gov/voterportal and selecting the “Stop/Resume the Mailing of My Voter Guides” tab. Voters who choose the online option will receive a notification with a link to view the pamphlet on the Department’s website.

In early October, the online VIP will be available in various formats and languages, including HTML, XML, PDF (in English, Chinese, Spanish, and Filipino), as well as in MP3 audio format in English.

For the November 5 election, a hard-copy VIP will be nearly 300 pages long, primarily due to the inclusion of legally required information such as 262 ballot arguments submitted to the Department and the legal text for each of the 15 local ballot measures.

For more information about the upcoming election, please contact the Department of Elections at (415) 554-4375, write to sfvote@sfgov.org or visit the Department’s office in City Hall, Room 48.
