San Francisco, CA—On July 27, 2024, San Francisco City Administrator Carmen Chu and her husband welcomed the arrival of their daughter, Tatum. Tatum is the couple’s second child. The family is in good health.

Carmen Chu was sworn in as the City Administrator for the City and County of San Francisco by Mayor London N. Breed on February 2, 2021. Prior to becoming City Administrator, Chu served as the elected Assessor (2014-2021), an elected representative on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors (2007-2013), and Deputy Director of the Mayor’s Office of Public Policy and Finance (2004-2007).

City Administrator Chu serves on the Board of Regents for the University of California, the Board of SF Travel, the City’s Tourism Improvement District Management Corporation, and various other bodies. She has 20 years of governmental management, policy and finance experience and is the first Asian American woman to serve as City Administrator in San Francisco. As City Administrator, Chu oversees 25 departments and divisions, including long-term capital and technology investments, procurement, real estate and other functions.
