The Disability Cultural Center (DCC) is set to launch a series of events celebrating disability culture in San Francisco. The virtual kick-off event, "A Night of Disability Culture," will take place on July 12 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. This program will feature live performances by disabled artists, most of whom are BIPOC, showcasing their work in art, music, poetry, dance, and literature. The event aims to challenge perceptions about disability and celebrate the contributions of disabled individuals. It will conclude with a community-wide dance and fashion party.

On July 26, from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, the DCC will host "Café Crip: The Value of Disability Culture." This monthly virtual gathering allows participants to discuss important topics within the disability community. Led by facilitator Bianca Laureano, the discussion will focus on the power of disability culture to combat ableism and promote disability justice.

The final event in this series is the Disabled Portrait Event at SF MoMA on July 27 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. In collaboration with the Disability Visibility Project, this in-person event invites members of the disabled community to have their photographs taken by Mia Robinson, a queer trans disabled photographer. Participants will receive prints of their photos and can visit the museum for free afterward. The event marks the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act and aims to celebrate disabled bodies and minds.
