The Department of Elections in the City and County of San Francisco has released its sixth preliminary results report for the March 5, 2024, Consolidated Presidential Primary Election. According to John Arntz, the Director of the Department of Elections, "Today’s preliminary results report includes 61,291 vote-by-mail ballots counted since the previous results report issued yesterday."
The report also states that there are approximately 37,500 ballots left to be processed and counted in the March 5 Election. This includes 30,000 vote-by-mail ballots and 7,500 provisional ballots. Arntz mentioned that Department personnel will continue to process and count ballots until 10 p.m. on the day of the announcement and will resume the process the following day from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Department plans to issue the seventh preliminary results report on Saturday, March 9, at 4 p.m., along with an estimate of the remaining ballots. This information will be made available on the Department's website at sfelections.org/results. However, on Sunday, March 10, there will be no preliminary results reports or estimates provided as the Department will be closed.
Director John Arntz will be present to address any questions from the public and the media regarding the preliminary results reports outside of Room 48 in City Hall when they are issued.
The Department of Elections encourages public observation of the ballot processing, which can be done in-person or via livestream at sfelections.org/observe.
