San Francisco's Legacy Business Program adds new members amid ongoing initiatives

The Legacy Business Program, part of the San Francisco Office of Small Business, continues to support and promote small businesses in the city. Since its inception in 2015, 433 businesses have been added to the Legacy Business Registry. Recent additions include Ace Mailing, African-American Shakespeare Company, Da Flora, Fabrix, Geary Print Shop, J's Laundry, Lehr's German Specialties, New India Bazar, Oscar's Photo Lab, PACT (Plan of Action for Challenging Times), Russian Hill Dog Grooming, Sabella and La Torre, Savoy Tivoli, Shaw Shoes, Ten-Ichi Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar, Treasure Island Museum, and Walter Adams Framing.

The newsletter highlights various press stories involving local businesses. A family jewelry firm has joined Union Square’s luxury retail scene despite high vacancy rates post-COVID-19. GLIDE Memorial Church remains a significant presence in the Tenderloin area with its tradition of "radical love." Kathy Fang is recognized not only for her culinary skills but also for her commitment to causes close to her heart.

Heritage Happy Hours offers informal gatherings for those interested in preserving San Francisco’s cultural identity. Upcoming events are scheduled at Bissap Baobab on February 13th; Savoy Tivoli on March 13th; and Peña Pachamama on April 10th.

Businesses must stay informed about new federal filing requirements concerning Business Ownership Information (BOI) with FinCEN. Penalties for non-compliance can be severe. The SF Small Business Development Center provides assistance with filing.

Local businesses are encouraged to apply for the Super Bowl LX Procurement Program by January 31st. This program offers exposure to contractors and event producers related to Super Bowl activities and future opportunities with BAHC (Bay Area Host Committee), 49ers, and NFL.

"Perfect San Francisco Days," an initiative by Shop Dine SF promotes spending at local small businesses through self-guided tours like the one in Noe Valley featuring Legacy Businesses.

In a business-to-business spotlight on framing services: Artisans of San Francisco offers custom picture framing; Cheap Pete’s Photos & Frames specializes in eco-friendly frames; Underglass Custom Framing provides solutions for art pieces; Walter Adams Framing focuses on archival conservation techniques.
