The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) in San Francisco has expressed gratitude to the public, healthcare providers, and media for their assistance in identifying a deceased woman. The collaboration played a crucial role in achieving this outcome.
On December 15, 2024, the San Francisco Fire Department responded to a report of a woman lying outside 241 Jones Street. Emergency services transported her to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. The cause and manner of death remain undetermined.
The decedent is described as a white female, approximately 50 years old, with brown hair and eyes. She was found with bandaged legs, standing at 4 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 147 pounds.
Despite using various investigatory methods such as fingerprint checks and DNA testing, the OCME initially struggled to identify her. A sketch artist from the San Francisco Police Department created a drawing to aid in identification efforts.
Anyone with information about her identity was encouraged to contact the OCME Investigative Division by phone or email, referencing Case Number 2024-1537.
The OCME investigates sudden deaths of legal or public health interest and compiles data for reports that inform public health experts and policymakers. It holds full accreditation from the National Association of Medical Examiners.
