The Department of Elections in San Francisco has released the fifth preliminary results report for the November 5, 2024, Consolidated General Election. The latest update includes 24,765 vote-by-mail ballots that have been counted since Election Night.
This report accounts for votes from approximately 96,660 ballot cards. The election ballot comprises four cards. There are still around 143,000 ballots left to process and count. This figure includes 123,000 vote-by-mail ballots and 20,000 provisional ballots cast at polling places and the City Hall Voting Center.
The estimate of remaining vote-by-mail ballots includes about 10,000 received from the United States Postal Service on November 6. These are postmarked on or before Election Day.
Ballot processing will continue until 10 p.m. tonight and will resume on Friday, November 8, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The public can observe this process in person or via livestream at sfelections.org/observe.
The next set of preliminary results and an updated count of remaining ballots will be available on Friday, November 8, at 4 p.m., posted on www.sfelections.gov/results.
Director John Arntz will be available for questions from the public and media outside Room 48 in City Hall when results reports are issued.
