Today marks Election Day for the November 5, 2024, Consolidated General Election in San Francisco. The Department of Elections is encouraging eligible voters who have not yet cast their ballots to participate.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., with around 2,000 poll workers stationed at 501 polling locations throughout the city and at the City Hall Voting Center. Voters can verify their assigned polling place by visiting sfelections.gov/myvotinglocation, checking their Voter Information Pamphlet, or calling (415) 554-4375.

For those not registered but still wishing to vote, provisional voting is available. Eligible residents can complete a provisional envelope as a registration form and submit a provisional ballot. The Department will validate and count these ballots after Election Day. Starting Friday, November 8, voters can check the status of their provisional ballots online or by phone.

Vote-by-mail ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. today at official drop boxes, polling places, or the City Hall Voting Center. A list of drop box locations is available on sfelections.gov/ballotdropoff. If using USPS on Election Day, voters should ensure that mail pickup has not occurred before depositing their ballot; otherwise, it may be postmarked late and disqualified. An alternative is to take the ballot directly to a post office for confirmation of same-day postmarking.

For those unable to reach polling locations today, ballot delivery and pickup services are available through the Department of Elections by calling (415) 554-4375. Voters may also authorize another person to collect or return their ballot by completing the “Authorization” section on their return envelope.

Voters with questions about voting options or election issues should contact the Department promptly for assistance while polls remain open.

After polls close, four preliminary election results reports will be posted on sfelections.gov/results.
