Cost of college went up for all students at City College of San Francisco

In-state tuition and fees rose 6.1 percent for 2018-19 at City College of San Francisco, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

California residents paid $1,696 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $98 more than the $1,598 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 511.6 percent more than residents this year, or $10,372. Their price tag grew 15.1 percent from $9,010 in 2017-18.

About 94 percent of the school's undergraduate population are California residents. About 1 percent are residents of other states and 5 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 51 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 722 students received grants or scholarships totaling $3.4 million and 9 students took out student loans totaling more than $45,888.

Including all undergraduates (27,008), 9,623 students used grants or scholarships totaling $25.3 million, and 171 students took out $1 million in federal student loans.
