Cayla Gapusan awarded Civics Scholarship

Daly City, Calif. – The Foundation for the Restoration of America (FFROA) awarded a $2,000 scholarship to Lincoln High School alumna Cayla Gapusan.

FFROA, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, is committed to educating the next generation of Americans about our nation’s founding principles and how they should continue to serve as the foundation for our future.

Gapusan currently attends the University of California Santa Cruz, where she is pursuing degrees in Human Biology and Psychology.

"My greatest takeaway from the program," Gapusan noted, "was how the framers recognizd the freedom of individuals. The constitution was written to acknowledge these rights such as freedom of speech, religion, and assembly, while also creating a check and balance system to avoid abuse of power."

The Foundation’s Executive Director Christine Altenberger shared her excitement about the scholarship program.

“For the future of the country,” Altenberger said, “each generation must learn the true history and founding principles of the United States and why they are important and worthy of respect. As Ronald Reagan said, ‘Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it on to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children, our children’s children what it was once like to live in the United States where men were free.’”

“These students are better equipped to be our nation’s next generation of leaders now that they’ve been exposed to the values that founded this country centuries ago.”

To be eligible to apply for a scholarship, students must have completed the “Constitution 101” and “Introduction to the Constitution” FREE online courses through Hillsdale College.
