San Francisco election department releases eighth preliminary results for general election

The Department of Elections in San Francisco has released its eighth preliminary report on the results of the November 5, 2024, Consolidated General Election. This latest update includes the counting of 39,404 vote-by-mail and provisional ballots since the previous report on November 9.

These ballots represent approximately 157,616 cards processed, as each voter received a ballot consisting of four cards. Since November 6, nearly 130,000 ballots have been reported, amounting to around 520,000 cards processed.

Currently, about 42,000 ballots remain to be counted. This figure includes an estimated 22,000 vote-by-mail ballots and 20,000 provisional ballots cast at polling places and the City Hall Voting Center.

Ballot processing will continue until 10 p.m. tonight and will resume from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday, November 11. The process is open for public observation both in-person and via livestream at sfelections.org/observe.

The next preliminary results report and updated estimate of remaining ballots will be released on Monday, November 11 at 4 p.m., available at www.sfelections.gov/results.

Director John Arntz will be available for questions from the public and media outside Room 48 in City Hall when results reports are issued.
