San Francisco appoints new medical director for its EMS agency

Dr. Amelia Breyre has been appointed as the new Medical Director for the San Francisco EMS Agency. Dr. Breyre is a board-certified physician in Emergency Medicine (EM) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS). She completed her medical education at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by an EM residency at Highland Hospital and an EMS/Disaster Fellowship at UCSF/ZSFGH.

Throughout her career, Dr. Breyre has gained clinical and administrative experience across various hospital systems in the Bay Area and California. Most recently, she served as Associate EMS Medical Director for 27 EMS Agencies within the Yale New Haven Health System and held a position as Assistant Professor at the Yale Emergency Department School of Medicine in Connecticut.

Expressing enthusiasm about her new role, Dr. Breyre stated that she looks forward to collaborating with what she describes as “one of the most innovative EMS systems in the country.” Her official start date is set for mid-March 2025.

Acknowledgment was given to Dr. Tenner for her leadership during this transition period, having served as Interim Medical Director over the past year.
