After Tuesday’s election, the San Francisco Office of Civic Engagement and Immigrant Affairs (OCEIA) and the Immigrant Rights Commission (IRC) issued a statement addressing the feelings of uncertainty among community members. They emphasized their “unwavering support for our immigrant communities” alongside other city entities like the Mayor’s Office and Board of Supervisors.

The organizations assured that despite changes at the federal level, San Francisco’s sanctuary policies remain unchanged. They committed to supporting fair treatment for all families in the city and promised to enhance accessible services, language support, legal resources, and community engagement under the next administration.

Community members are reminded that “the new federal administration does not take office until January 20, 2025.” During this transition period, OCEIA encourages staying informed through updates from trusted non-profit organizations for immigration-related inquiries via immigrants.sfgov.org.

OCEIA stated its dedication to support residents during this transition with resilience and unity, ensuring that San Francisco continues to be an inclusive city where everyone can thrive.
