Salesforce marked the tenth anniversary of its global health and safety program, CAREforce, on May 13. The company said the initiative has grown into a major part of its workplace culture by equipping employees with tools, training, and resources to care for themselves and each other.
The CAREforce program is important because it aims to foster a culture where employees look out for one another beyond just following rules or compliance checklists. In fiscal year 2026, Salesforce reported that more than 700 trainings reached over 27,000 employees and led to the company’s highest-rated safety scores. The company also said that CAREforce is adapting to new technology by embedding safety guidance and emergency tools directly into Slack and other AI-powered platforms used daily by staff.
Karl Huntzicker, Vice President of Global Health & Safety at Salesforce, explained how traditional safety models were not effective in a modern technology company: “They care about each other; they care for their safety,” he recalled. “But they really didn’t have the means to turn that into action. For our program to be successful, employee engagement was essential.”
CAREforce organizes its efforts around four main actions: communicate unsafe conditions or emergencies; assist colleagues through mutual support resources like medical assistance or hardship relief funds; respond with knowledge during crises such as fires or medical events; and educate through ongoing learning opportunities in mental wellbeing and workplace safety. The impact has been seen in personal stories from employees who credit the training with helping them handle emergencies at home.
Rhonda Michalec, leader of Global Recruiting for Technology, Product, and Customer Success at Salesforce said: “It’s pretty darn incredible to work for a company where you can personally feel that someone’s looking out for you… It is truly a reason people join Salesforce.” Another employee shared gratitude after receiving help from CAREforce during a family emergency: “You turned one of the most traumatic days of our lives into a story of support, compassion, and community.”
Looking ahead, Salesforce plans further integration between CAREforce resources and digital tools like Slackbot so that critical information reaches employees before disasters occur. Sabastian Niles, President and Chief Legal Officer at Salesforce said: “A program like this has certain compliance elements… But what strikes me most is that you also see it as a genuine commitment to our people and to each other.”
