Salesforce announced on Apr. 2 the launch of a new monthly column called ‘Ask Slackbot,’ which aims to provide workplace advice in the age of agentic artificial intelligence. The column will feature answers generated by a Slackbot configured for different Salesforce roles each month, using real conversations, customer implementations, research, and documents while maintaining data privacy within the Salesforce Trust Layer.
The introduction of this column is intended to help employees navigate modern workplace challenges with practical guidance that leverages both technology and human insight. The advice offered is designed to address questions relevant to various job functions and is informed by patterns observed in actual work communications.
In its first edition, the column addressed a question from a new manager seeking ways to make team members feel valued and respected. The response emphasized recognizing invisible work such as coordination and quality-checking, establishing rituals like end-of-week acknowledgment messages, and supporting team members during moments of uncertainty or tension. Examples included publicly calling out behind-the-scenes efforts on major projects and addressing creative tensions with outside partners through open communication.
The Slackbot’s process involved interpreting natural language requests to identify managerial needs for situational awareness and reassurance. It scanned accessible Slack channels for recent activity, identified collaboration patterns or friction points, and protected employee privacy by blinding identifying details before providing actionable insights.
Future editions of ‘Ask Slackbot’ are expected to cover additional topics relevant to different roles within Salesforce. Employees are encouraged to submit their own questions about workplace challenges they encounter.
