Mayor Breed Nominates Lydia So to the San Francisco Planning Commission

San Francisco Mayor London N. Breed has put forward Lydia So as the nominee for the San Francisco Planning Commission. So, who currently serves on the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) Board of Directors, has been an advocate for various communities and causes within the city.

According to Mayor Breed, "Lydia has been a champion for the people of San Francisco, and her dedication to public service and her understanding of the intersection of housing, transportation, and infrastructure is what our City needs to move forward."

Expressing her gratitude for the nomination, Lydia So stated, "I am deeply grateful for the nomination to serve on the Planning Commission, where I look forward to contributing my expertise in urban design, architecture, and transportation solutions to shape a brighter future for San Francisco and foster community connections."

Malcom Yeung, the Executive Director of the Chinatown Community Development Center, commended So, saying, "Lydia possesses an exceptional array of skills...what truly distinguishes her is her profound comprehension of the indispensable role that urban planning and community engagement play in sustaining vibrant and distinctive environments."

Charles M. Collins, President of the San Francisco Arts Commission, also praised So's capabilities, affirming that she "will now serve the San Francisco Planning Commission bringing her values, integrity, and oversight."

The San Francisco Planning Commission plays a crucial role in advising city officials on long-term goals, policies, and programs related to land use, transportation, and planning issues. Once confirmed by the Board of Supervisors, Lydia So will step down from her current position on the SFMTA Board of Directors to take on this new role.
