The San Francisco Small Business Commission marked a significant milestone on Monday, March 25, by adding the 400th Legacy Business to the city's Registry. The Legacy Business Assistance Program was also approved by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, aiming to provide rent stabilization grants to both tenants and property owners who sign long-term leases.

Mayor London Breed expressed her pride in San Francisco's recognition of Legacy Businesses, stating, "Legacy Businesses exemplify the best of what San Francisco offers to the world." Cynthia Huie, President of the Small Business Commission, highlighted the program's innovative nature, celebrating businesses from various sectors that enrich the city's culture.

Supervisor Hillary Ronen, who played a role in creating the Legacy Business Program, emphasized the importance of these businesses in maintaining the city's unique fabric. Board of Supervisors President Aaron Peskin commended the program for supporting beloved neighborhood establishments and thanked stakeholders for their commitment to the initiative.

The 400th business to receive Legacy Business status, Ristorante Ideale, expressed gratitude for the recognition. Chef Maurizio Bruschi shared his appreciation, inviting patrons to enjoy authentic Italian cuisine at the restaurant and contribute to its lasting success.

In addition to Ristorante Ideale, 12 other businesses were added to the Legacy Business Registry in 2024, representing various industries and longstanding contributions to their communities. These additions reflect the program's commitment to preserving San Francisco's cultural heritage and economic vitality.

The Legacy Business Registry defines Legacy Businesses as those operating in San Francisco for 30 or more years, contributing to the neighborhood's history and identity. Businesses recognized on the Registry receive support and incentives to remain in the community, ensuring the preservation of their traditions and contributions.

Managed through the Office of Small Business, the Legacy Business Program continues to promote the longevity and success of these establishments. For more information and to view the list of businesses on the Legacy Business Registry, visit www.legacybusiness.org.
